The Education Department at the Allentown Art Museum has developed this interactive, educational website, The Renaissance Connection, with innovations anchored on six core themes in the Renaissance:

  • The Quest for Knowledge
  • The Arts and Architecture
  • Patrons and Lifestyles
  • Everyday Life
  • Trade and Exploration
  • Science and Technology

The website includes thirty-seven digital images of artworks from the Museum’s Samuel H. Kress and European art collections, lesson plans, interactive activities, a timeline, and maps.Through the Be a Patron activity, students can role-play the commissioning of an artwork, while Time Telescope allows them to trace today’s innovations, such as digital cameras, back to their Renaissance roots. A stroll along the timeline helps students explore six core themes of the Renaissance, and you can enhance the learning process with works of art, lesson plans, and interactive maps.
