North Carolina Center for South Asia Studies
Duke University, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill work together through the North Carolina Center for South Asia Studies to “promote research and teaching in the languages and cultures of South Asia.”
The center provides seminars, workshops, and a speaker’s bureau for K-16 teachers and students and other community groups. Educators “may request films and documentaries about South Asia, teaching modules (kits), and other instructional materials, including digital resources for the study of South Asia.” In addition, the Center provides programs to the public on South Asian dance, music, drama, as well as workshops and seminars to area educators. North Carolina State University offers a study abroad opportunity in India where educators may experience Indian culture, language, and literature.
