NCDC Climate Monitoring
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/monitoring.html
The world’s largest archive of weather data, this website has 9 major data sections: State of the Climate, Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society Annual State of the Climate Reports, U.S. Temperatures and Precipitation, Tropical Cyclones, Global Products, Climate and Network Monitoring, Drought Monitoring, Snow Data, and Other Products.
The State of the Climate section not only has annual reports with information on global surface temperature anomalies, climate indicators, and extreme weather events, it also has selected U.S. city and state extreme measurements.
In addition to the climate information found in the State of the Climate section, the BAMS Annual State of the Climate Reports provides information for the year on the climate of the oceans, trends in trace gases, the tropics, and the world’s tropical storms.
U.S. Temperatures and Precipitation has monthly reports for each year beginning with the year 2000. There are also weekly maps, a climate extremes index, daily U.S. ASOS maps, and more.
The Tropical Cyclones section contains “links to NCDC and NOAA pages summarizing the current and recent hurricane seasons, indices of hurricane and typhoon activity and also a link to a list of all U.S.-landfalling Atlantic hurricanes since 1851.”
The Drought Monitoring section has the latest U.S. drought report along with a current drought monitor map. Included in this section are the U.S. Palmer Drought Indices with the weekly and monthly indexes, historical Palmer maps and data files. The U.S. Standardized Precipitation Index, the U.S. Regional Precipitation Ranks, and the U.S. State/Regional Moisture Status graphs can also be found here.
