Created by a consortium of the American Philosophical Society, The Franklin Institute, the Library Company of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the University of Pennsylvania, the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary celebrates the life of this famous founding father with an international traveling exhibition, “Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World.” Beginning in Philadelphia in December of 2005 and ending in Paris, France March 30th, 2008, the exhibition will be divided into six sections: Character Matters, B. Franklin Printer, Civic Visions, the Search for Useful Knowledge, The World Stage, and Do You See Yourself in Franklin.
This companion website site provides information about the traveling exhibition and includes an educational resource page with interdisciplinary lesson plans that expand upon and interpret five of the central themes highlighted in the exhibition. Here, you will also find a teacher’s guide, a self-guided family brochure, and information about the National Essay Contest with the National Constitution Center.
