The Library of Congress has been digitizing its collections to share with the public through the Internet for many years. They have created the Learning Page website as a way to help teachers utilize the collections in the classroom. This collection topic is the Great Depression and the primary source set includes photographic images, audio files, and a map of the Dust Bowl days.
Lesson plans, some of which are interdisciplinary, have been created by teachers for teachers to teach students about the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl era. Topics covered are the New Deal, migration, welfare, migrant workers, oral history, and point of view stories.
The website includes online resources from the Library of Congress which correspond to this topic. Some of the sites are especially for educators and some are especially for students. Collection Connections have links to teaching resources from related exhibits. These include a summary of the exhibit and U.S. history, critical thinking, and arts and humanities resources related to the exhibit.
