Global Nomads Group
Developed in 1998, the Global Nomads Group uses interactive technology to bring the children of the world closer together in understanding and appreciating one another. By discussing each other’s similarities and differences via videoconferencing, students will improve cultural understanding as well as communication, geography, and critical thinking skills.
Children are the nations’ leaders of tomorrow and the goal of the GNG is to “help them look beyond their borders and to lay the foundation for increased cooperation among nations.”
The Global Nomads Group programs have brought together students from the United States and other nations through videoconferencing, weblogs, and other interactive technologies. Past programs have included the nations of Mozambique, Sudan, Rwanda, Jordan, Honduras, and Iraq.
Educators can sign-up to have their students become a part of a program either to participate interactively or only view the videoconference. Videos and lesson plans of past programs are available for purchase on the website. Archived videoconferences are available for free onsite.
