National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs (OBEMLA) provides funding for the National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition to “collect, analyze, and disseminate information relating to the effective education of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the U.S.” The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development, Institute for Education Policy Studies hosts this website. They provide Newsline, a bi-weekly news bulletin, as well as the “Roundtable Forums”, online discussion groups.
NCELA provides best practices and research to help in the education of LCD students. Educators will find lesson plans, activities, grant information, professional development resources, and more. NCELA is a “valuable source of information for individuals working in foreign language programs, English as a Second Language programs, Head Start, Title I, Migrant Education, or Adult Education programs.”
