As a result of the attacks on September 11, 2001, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill brought together faculty, students, and administrators to form a planning group to “review the University’s resources in Middle East Studies and to chart a course for future development. The Carolina Center for the Study of the Middle East and Muslim Civilizations grew out of this planning process.”
The Center has created resources for educators from a presentation for high school teachers and administrators held in February of 2006. The title of the presentation was “Muslim Diasporas”. Educators will find PowerPoint presentations, articles, and handouts on Muslims throughout the world and Islam in Southeast Asia.
