The people of the mountains of North Carolina have a rich musical heritage that has been kept alive by music historians and musicians. This website has been developed in an effort to preserve this heritage. The Haywood County Library received a LSTA grant from the State Library of North Carolina to digitize the collection which includes the history of the area, audio clips of the music, biographical information of the musicians of the past and present, web resources, and images of the musical instruments.
The site includes the geographical features of the region.
