This site contains lesson plans for Literature & Language Arts and is divided into two tabs of content. The default tab contains lesson plans and the other contains links to websites related to the content on the lesson plans page. There is a Subject and Grade Navigator available for both tabs.
Literature categories include: American, Biography, British, Classic, Drama, Essay, Fiction, Poetry, and World literature. The Grade Level navigator is broken down into grade ranges from Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
Lesson plans are organized into sections such as: Learning Objectives, Guiding Questions, Preparing to Teach this Lesson, and Suggested Activities (including anticipated duration for each activity). There are also opportunities to extend the lesson. For example, in the “Lessons of the Indian Epics: The Ramayana: Showing your Dharma” extensions include asking students to find visual representations of events in the Indian Epics from museum collections and to invite a discussion about the importance of visual arts in cultures that may have high levels of illiteracy.
