Lesson plans include video clips, discussion questions, and booknotes for selected units. Some plans, such as the Checks and Balances lesson plan, contain a Fun Fact, Capitol Question (with link to the answer), Learn More, and Review Quiz, in addition to the Worksheet and Vocabulary section.
The C-SPAN in the Classroom program offers FREE enrollment for educators, and provides customized information for the specified grade and subject areas. There are also Teacher Fellowships for Middle and High School teachers.
There is a C-SPAN School Bus, which is regularly on-tour and can be requested.
“High school or middle school social studies teachers who organize an educator conference at their school with a minimum of 10 colleagues could be selected to host a C-SPAN School Bus visit. Send an email with name, school name and address, subject, grade, cable provider and a daytime/evening phone number.” Visit the C-SPAN School Bus page to send email request.
The classroom’s homepage is divided into six areas with an Educator’s Resources section. The six areas are:
- The Principles of Government
- The U.S. Constitution,
- The Legislative Branch,
- The Executive Branch,
- The Judicial Branch, and
- Political Participation.
