http://www.getty.edu/education/search/
This website from the J. Paul Getty Museum in California provides a wide variety of lesson plans based on the organization’s collection. Lesson plans can be accessed by grade level (K-12 and Adult Learners) and subject area (language arts, math, science and social studies).
Lesson plans are organized into key areas: Activity Overview, Learning Objectives, Materials,Lesson Steps and Assessment. Frequently, there are also extension activities which provide additional learning opportunities.
A sampling of lesson plan topics includes: Working With Sculpture, Mythology in Art, Exploring Photographs, Telling Stories in Art, Decorative Arts andIlluminated Manuscripts.
A link to the “For Kids” page for younger children includes “Getty Games” such as Detail Detective, Match Madness and Jigsaw Puzzles. Children can click on “Whyville” which has a Seuss-like environment where they can “earn clams by playing games, hang out at the beach, and go to town events at the Greek Theater. You can start your own business, buy a car and give your friends a ride, or write for the town newspaper.”
Although the Standards listed at the end of a Lesson Plan are helpful, be aware that they correlate to the California curriculum.
