The Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education
This site provides access to resources for Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade< curricula. The collection is organized into:
- Collaborative Projects,
- Real Time Data Projects,
- Projects Using Primary Sources & Archived Collections,
- Partner Projects, and
- Educational Links
Collaborative Projects bring schools together to participate in on-line, collaborative studies and experiments. One project is Human Genetics, which looks at dominant and recessive traits. The project collects the genetic makeup of the participating classes and then studies to see which traits are reported most frequently, the dominant or the recessive.
Collaborative Projects have start and end dates for Fall and Spring terms to coordinate participation. Recommended grade levels are also provided.
The Real Time Data Projects projects use ‘Real Time’, which refers to data that is updated regularly. Projects include teacher resources, student activities, additional online resources, reference information, and an Ask An Expert area.
Projects Using Primary Sources & Archived Collections are similar in scope and organization to the Real Time Data Projects, but rather than Real Time Data they incorporate historical figures into the activities. An example of this is the Population Growth project, which looks at data that, once collected, doesn’t change, as in the population of the United States in 2001.
Partner Projects lists opportunities to collaborate with educational organizations or to use tools provided by science research organizations in the classroom.
The Educational Links page is a list of annotated links to resources related to the materials on the other pages of the site.
