“The TeachEngineering digital library provides teacher-tested, standards-based engineering content for K-12 teachers to use in science and math classrooms. Engineering lessons connect real-world experiences with curricular content already taught in K-12 classrooms. Mapped to educational content standards, TeachEngineering’s comprehensive curricula are hands-on, inexpensive, and relevant to children’s daily lives.”
Educators can search for specific subjects or browse the curriculum. The advanced search allows you to search by educational standards, keywords, grade level, time required or expendable cost per group. There are curricular units, lesson plans, and activities. “Some of the items are stand alone and others are organized hierarchically with activities comprising lessons, which in turn comprise units, which fall under one or more broad subject areas.”
Check out the Living Labs section of the site. Real systems and real data allow teachers and students to design innovative solutions to real world water, energy, and transportation problems.
In addition, educators can register to have their own personal account, called MyTE, where they can store their favorite resources. They may also publish reviews with their accounts. Educators are also encouraged to submit their own engineering lesson plans and documents to TeachEngineering.
