This organization began sponsoring poetry contests in 1993 adding the essay contest in 2004. Awards for contest winners are given with amounts varying between student and adult entrants; participating schools may also receive award monies.

Resources for poetry teaching include tips and lesson plans from past issues of Poetic Power. There are several tips per volume and issue link requiring scrolling through each tip to view the next.

Grants are available to participating schools. Eligibility for the available grants varies; check the Language Arts Grants page for updated information and past winners.
