At the homepage of this site, you can navigate to such sections as public policy, geoscience careers, earth science world, and geoscience education. Click on the link for geoscience education and you will be directed to the site’s educational materials and resources. Here, they offer professional development tools for k-5 geoscience educators, including lessons, assessments, and activities. Under the link for curriculum materials, you will find resources intended mainly for supplementing various textbook programs, but there are useful links to other websites and activity ideas there as well. Under the HSES section of curriculum materials, there is a page devoted to earth science news sources that is helpful. The link for Earth Science Week contains lesson plans ready for immediate use in the classroom. Here, you can go to the “For Teachers” section, located on the left sidebar, and take a look at the classroom activities. These activities range from k-12 in grade level, and are marked according to grade level and content standards from the National Science Education Standards. Some of the topics include soil, meteorology, natural resources, and water.
