ASPIRE: Astrophysics Science Project Integrating Research and Education
http://sunshine.chpc.utah.edu/
The ASPRIRE lab is an interactive science education website that provides free science labs, lesson plans, and inquiry-based content created by teachers. The site is directed toward students and teachers, with the student portion including sections on lessons, ask a scientist, internships, and science careers. As a teacher, you can register with the site to gain access to free tools such as the Quiz Manager and to receive updates on various features of the site. Even without registering, you have access to just over twenty lessons that ASPIRE,/cite> has developed since 1997. These lessons have been created by teachers and web-developers working with research scientists from the University of Utah. Lessons address a range of topics including lunar phases, machines, light refraction, seasons, and the scientific method. While there are not a huge number of lessons, each one is detailed, highly interactive, and well designed.
