Doing What Works
At Doing What Works, their goal is to make more examples of tools and materials available to educators about research-based instructional practices, so that teachers will be better able to increase student achievement. Much of the DWW content is based on the IES’ What Works Clearinghouse (WWC). The WWC evaluates research on practices and interventions to let the education community know what is likely to work. Then, DWW provides examples of possible ways educators might apply those research findings.
This site offers a number of resources on various topics. The topic of teaching literacy in English to K-5 ELL students is well worth a look. Included among these resources are a research review, recommended practices, planning templates, and essential information on teaching literacy to K-5 ELL students. Future topics include high school reform and literacy. The site also provides links to other useful places on the web.
Doing What Works also provides free online workshops that include instructor coaching, peer-to-peer collaboration, and individual exploration.
