“Airing weekly on PBS, the Emmy award-winning series Independent Lens is like an independent film festival in your living room. Each episode introduces new documentaries and dramas made by independent thinkers: filmmakers who are taking creative risks, calling their own shots and finding untold stories in unexpected places. Independent Lens programs come in every shape and size, including feature-length documentaries, hour-long dramas, four-minute comic shorts, half-hour experimental pieces and everything in between.&rdquo -From Independent LensFrom the home page you can find information about upcoming programs, along with resources related to current and past programming. At the top bar of the home page, you can go to the video segment to link to previews of upcoming programming, video segments of all programming, and the websites that accompany each episode. Also visit the Your Lens section, where people can share their views through video and Flickr groups. The Inside Indies tab will take you for an inside look at the independent film industry, and is a great source of information for students with an interest in film making.The Classroom segment is the jewel of this site, and is also located along the top bar of the homepage. Packed with detailed, in-depth lesson plans, and other related resources, this section offers a number of great sites for use in the classroom. For more specific discussions of each site, please use the links in the right hand side bar of this page, located under “more on the web”. Also in the Classroom section, you can scroll to the bottom for Online Extras. These do not include specific lesson plans, but contain valuable resources for education.
