FEBRUARY ONE: The Story of the Greensboro Four reveals how these idealistic college students became friends and inspired one another to stage the sit-in, and how the burden of history has impacted their lives ever since. On the website, the Greensboro Four section gives short bios for each of the four members, while the Sit-In section contains information and photos from the Greensboro Four event, along with further information about the Civil Rights Movement and the story of Emmett Till in particular.
Two lesson plans that revolve around the film can be found in the For Educators section of the site. The plans include learning objectives, links to educational standards, detailed instructions, assessments, and extension ideas. These lesson plans do require the entire film in order to be used without adaptation, but you can certainly utilize portions of the lessons and the ideas without having the film. The film can be purchased from a link given on the site. For other sources of information, visit the Learn More segment, which gives online and print resources for further investigation. When navigating the site, avoid using the tabs in the top bar of the page, as they will take you back to the Independent Lens home. Use the links within the main body of the page.
