This lesson, one of a four-part unit from Illuminations titled “Investigating Linear Relationships: The Regression Line and Correlation,” provides students with the opportunity to investigate the relationship between a set of data points and a line used to fit the data points using a computer-based interactive tool, the Regression Line Applet.
In this lesson, students learn about Pearson’s correlation coefficient — the measure of the linear association between the horizontal variable and the vertical variable.
