Media Awareness, Lesson 2

A lesson plan for grade 4 Visual Arts Education
This ARTSEDGE lesson begins with a teacher-led discussion of the purpose, target audience, and value of advertisements in general, and of the specific advertisements each student has brought to class from home. Students then discuss as a class why each is successful or not, and why. Without referring to their particular advertisement, each student then draws their ad, in color, from memory, enlarging it on their paper, keeping in mind the background, words, and symbols such as price.
