A lesson plan for grade 8 English Language Arts
In this lesson from ReadWriteThink, students will explore the distinction between a hero and an idol. Students will select, read about, and report on a hero then identify how their hero matches the criteria and characteristics they have already decided upon. Hero reports will be compiled into a class book. As a follow-up, a discussion of the poem “Heroes We Never Name” will emphasize the fact that there are heroes all around us.
