This lesson, one of a four-part unit from Illuminations titled “Investigating Linear Relationships: The Regression Line and Correlation,” provides students with the opportunity to investigate the relationship between a set of data points and a line used to fit the data points using a computer-based interactive tool, the Regression Line Applet.
In this lesson, students manipulate points on the graph and see how outliers on the graph influence the regression line. Immediate feedback helps to firmly establish this concept for students.
