A lesson plan for grades K–2 English Language Arts
This ReadWriteThink lesson suggests building a snowman as one way to provide food for birds and animals during the winter. Students read fiction and nonfiction books and access the Internet to gain information about how animals survive during the winter. They also use a K-W-L graphic organizer to increase their understanding of the topic and write stories. Extension activities involve writing poetry, building snowmen to feed animals, and doing art projects.
