A lesson plan for grades 11–12 Social Studies
What do you think of when you think of the National Parks System? Do you think of the majesty of the Grand Canyon and the redwoods of Northern California? Or does the serenity of Cape Cod and the Everglades come to mind? This lesson has students explore economic issues facing the U.S. National Parks.
The specific objectives of the lesson are:
- to compare prices of goods/services
- to analyze the cost and benefits of existing public policies
- to explain how incentives affect people’s behavior
- to compose a persuasive letter to a congressperson
