A lesson plan for grade 5 Social Studies
This is set of three lesson plans exploring what makes the U.S. Capitol symbolically important. Presented with a variety of archival documents, students can answer that question for themselves. Working in small groups, the students will uncover and share the Capitol’s story. The primary sources are presented to the students as mysteries, with a challenge to tie together the information in the documents or images through research.
The purpose of EDSITEment is to offer a gateway for teachers, students, and parents searching for high-quality material on the Internet in the subject areas of literature and language arts, foreign languages, art and culture, and history and social studies.
