The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources creates this electronic magazine for kids in grades 4-8 and their teachers too. EEK! is a constantly changing and updated magazine-like website that features all kinds of environmental information, games, and activities.Kids will want to visit the Nature Notes section to find out what is going on outside at that time. An Autumn issue contained information about bird migration, how to feed the winter birds, and bird feeder “bandits.” There was also information about recognizing different animal tracks, a featured critter of the month, and answers to questions about how leaves change colors.Other sections of the website contain games and information about endangered species, alien invaders (foreign animals and plants living in America), and recycling. You can take an animal tracks quiz, find out how to make gifts out of garbage, and learn to make a pine cone wreath. Each “issue” of this electronic magazine is different, reflecting seasonal changes in environmental flora and fauna.Teachers can find ways to help their students use this material on the teachers resource page.
