A lesson plan for grade 6 Mathematics
In this lesson, part of a set of four related Illuminations lessons on combinations, students are encouraged to discover all the combinations. Students predict the number of two-color combinations that can be made from eight colors. This activity strengthens the students’ problem-solving skills (including elimination and collection of organized data) and their ability to draw conclusions. The use of higher-level thinking skills (synthesis, analysis, and evaluations) is the overall goal.
