A lesson plan for grades 3–5 Mathematics
In this lesson, the fourth of an eight-part unit from Illuminations titled “Eat Your Veggies,” students make human line plots and circle graphs, then draw them on paper and use a website to generate them. Posing and answering questions using the graphs gives the students an opportunity to apply their problem-solving and communication skills. They also find the mean and median of a set of data.
This lesson is referenced in the Illuminations unit plan titled “Eat Your Veggies” and is connected to the Illuminations lessons titled “Tally Time,” “Can You Picture It?,” “Healthy Eating,” “What Is Your Favorite?,” “Let’s Compare,” “Alphabet Soup,” “Glyphs for all Reasons.”
