Named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery, the Newbery Medal is awarded to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
This website celebrates the winner of the Newbery Award and the recipients of the Honor Books. It also explains the history of the the award as well as the criteria and application process. In addtion, the site lists the winners of the Newbery Medal since 1922.
