This lesson can be used as an assessment tool for vocabulary comprehension from a recently completed unit of study. After the teacher reads Debra Frasier’s Miss Alaineus: A Vocabulary Disaster to the class, students model the concepts in the text by brainstorming vocabulary words from a unit they have just completed. Then, students illustrate and present their work in a final presentation. Lesson provides multiple opportunities for a final project; however, if modeled on the book, students will participate in a vocabulary parade.
