Play ball! Encouraging critical thinking through baseball questions

A lesson plan for grades 6–8 English Language Arts
Students create a baseball-themed Jeopardy game after a read–aloud of Lou Gehrig: The Luckiest Man by David A. Adler. After the teacher explains the purpose of asking good questions, students evaluate Internet sites that contain trivia questions. Students then research baseball facts using the Internet and create their own questions to pose in an in–class trivia game. This lesson provides links to resources for creating and evaluating trivia games.
