In this Science Update, students explore how golf courses could one day double as water treatment facilities. This report emphasizes the need to protect natural wetlands and how wetlands benefit the environment. Science NetLinks provides a link to the audio file, a written transcript, and questions that engage students in a discussion about the benefit and need for artificial wetlands and challenge them to evaluate why many wetlands have been destroyed. The lesson plan also provides links to Access Excellence’s “Project Wetlands,” the Environmental Protection Agency’s wetlands site, and another Science Update lesson on wetlands.
