A lesson plan for grade 3 Mathematics
Students identify which geometric solids can be made from given nets and create nets for common geometric solids. Illuminations provides all resources necessary for completing this activity.
Students will:
- Analyze characteristics and properties of three dimensional geometric shapes and develop mathematical arguments about geometric relationships.
- Use visualization, spatial reasoning, and geometric modeling to solve problems.
- Identify which geometric solids can be made from given nets.
- Create nets for common geometric solids.
NCTM Standards and Expectation covered in this lesson include:
- Identifying, comparing, and analyzing attributes of two- and three-dimensional shapes and develop vocabulary to describe the attributes.
- Building and drawing geometric objects.
