A lesson plan for grade 7 Science and Social Studies
In this Xpeditions lesson, students learn to recognize drought, where drought can occur, and how drought affects the people who live in those places. Activities in this lesson engage students in discussion of the climate of Afghanistan, development of map-reading skills, and whole class discussion.
Students will:
- look at a drought map of Afghanistan and discuss the causes of drought;
- compare a drought map with a political map; and
- discuss the impacts of drought on people.
Xpeditions provides detailed directions for completing the lesson, suggestions for assessment and extension activities, and links to helpful web resources from multiple sites.
