A lesson plan for grades 6–7 and 11–12 Social Studies
In this Xpeditions lesson, students learn how to identify the market areas of some of the major retailers in their communities. This lesson engages students in activities to develop their understanding of globalization and their role in society.
Students will
- understand the concept of a market area or hinterland;
- learn how geographers depict market areas;
iii. be able to distinguish a retailer’s market area; and - understand the importance of “range” and “threshold.”
