An Adventure of the American Mind

This multi-year program was designed to show teachers how to use the Library of Congress primary resources, which have been published on the Internet, in their classrooms. Since January of 2000, over 600 in-service teachers have been trained in this program. The next phase of the program will provide an in-school training component Modules can be created which will meet an individual school, or school system needs.The website has lesson plans, unit plans, and activities designed by K-12 teachers. These plans demonstrate the effective use of the primary resources of the Library of Congress and the American Memory Project. It also offers several newsletters, the Learning Page Newsletter from the Library of Congress, the AAM newsletter, an AAM Home School Newsletter, and the bimonthly Education and Research Consortium Newsletter. Each of these highlight tips, resources, and events related to the Library of Congress and American Memory Project Collections. In addition the Adventures in the American Mind has links to useful websites in a searchable database, papers and articles which provide insight into the program, and much more.
