Founded September 15, 1989, The James Fenimore Cooper Society is “dedicated to promoting the study of the life and works of James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851), encouraging the enjoyment of his 32 novels, and appreciation of his ideas, and providing useful information to students, scholars, and readers.”
The website has biographical information and a day-to-day chronology of James Fenimore Cooper’s life. There are also documents of first-hand impressions of the writer, many of them by his daughter, Susan.
The James Fenimore Cooper Society has on-site texts of some of his works that are hard to find. There are also plot summaries of his works and a list of his characters with descriptions. There is even a page that explains how to read his books.
