Jamestown Rediscovery
Jamestown is the site of the first permanent English colony in America. Jamestown Rediscovery is investigating the remains of 1607 Jamestown on the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities property on Jamestown Island, Virginia. Their excavations have uncovered over 160,000 artifacts dating to the first half of the 17th century.
On this site you can see the details of the excavation area. A clickable map takes the viewer to each excavation area and tells what has been found there. The artifacts tell the story of how the colonists lived and what they ate.
Also included is the history of Jamestown and a timeline of events leading up to and through the establishment of the colony. There is also a list of settlers and their occupations.
