IPPEX is the Interactive Plasma Physics Education Experience. This interactive website will help you learn all about the fascinating topic of fusion, how it works, and why it is important. Also learn what a tokamak is and what it has to do with fusion.As if that weren’t enough, you will continue on from your fusion exploration to learn about matter, electricity and magnetism, energy, and even more about fusion. These interactive modules allow you to test out your new knowledge with online activities and experiments.Before you go on to study and analyze actual data from the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor and complete the related exercises, check out the the following tools:

  • Magnetic Containment Plasma Drift Applet. This applet shows how magnetic fields control and contain plasma when it is too hot to contain by any other conventional methods. To get the longest containment time, you can manually & automatically turn on/off magnetic controls.
  • Virtual Tokamak. The latest version of the Virtual Tokamak allows you to type in the parameter values as well as use the slider bars.
