ISS EarthKam
ISS EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students) “is a NASA education program which enables students, teachers and the public to learn about Earth from the unique perspective of space. At the core of the program is a spectacular collection of digital images of Earth. The image collection and accompanying learning guides and activities are extraordinary resources to support classes in Earth science, space science, geography, social studies, mathematics, communications and even art. The ISS EarthKAM camera has flown on five Space Shuttle flights and taken almost 5000 images.”The Image Library is a database of thousands of digital images taken of the earth from space. Find images of clouds, the Mississippi River, forest fires, and more, maybe even your own city.Educators will find a variety of materials and resources to incorporate ISS EarthKAM into their classrooms. From how-to’s on using these site’s resources to activities about map skills, volcanoes, deltas, weather, and estimation and sampling, this part of the ISS EarthKAM website will help you use address many areas of the curriculum.Students can see what other people have done with their images and learn what these digital images can really show about the world. There is an international space station quiz, an orbitial mechanics quiz, a land formations activity, and more.
