Many teachers may not be aware that they can access NoveList (free!) through NC LIVE. NoveList is an incredible resource that enables teachers to search a particular genre, such as historical fiction. The database can be manipulated to search for children’s books, young adult books, adult books, or a combination. Most titles include book reviews and criticism. Also included are Newbery and Caldecott lists, as well as options for searching for hard to find areas such as “African American Cowboys.” NoveList, in addition to being a great tool for English and history teachers and school librarians, is fun to use. A password is needed, obtainable from your local public library when you show your library card. If you already have a card, your library may be able to give out the password on the phone.
