Guys Read is a literacy initiative program for boys developed by author Jon Scieszka. He says “Too many boys still struggle with reading. Our boys need help. And that’s why I’ve decided to become a spokesperson for boys and for this literacy initiative called GUYS READ.”The site includes ideas for parents, librarians, booksellers, and educators to help boys learn to love reading and explores reasons why boys are not motivated to read. It features lists of books that Jon Scieszka recommends: non-fiction, fiction, picture books, science fiction and fantasy book selections as well as a section that allows guys to vote for their favorite book.
