The Museum of Modern Art
Access to the rich variety of works of art in MoMA’s collections and exhibitions, as well as information related to special exhibitions, programs and services available at the Museum.
The searchable on-line collection is divided into seven departments: architecture and design, drawings, film and video, media and performance art, painting and sculpture, photography, and prints and illustrated books. Each includes highlighted works and basic information. The collection can also be searched via the artist index.
- There are two parts of the site specifically geared towards students and teachers:
- Destination Modern Art “designed especially for children ages five to eight, features a visitor from outer space who is sent to Earth on a mission to explore modern art. At MoMA, the friendly alien investigates Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night (1889) and other works and then looks for ‘art in unusual places’ at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.”
- Red Studio “developed by MoMA in collaboration with high school students, explores issues and questions raised by teens about modern art and today’s working artists. Premiering with an interview by teens of artist Vito Acconci, along with the interactive youDESIGN activity, Red Studio will be periodically updated and expanded.”
