Social Studies (2003)

Grade 1

• Goal 6: The learner will apply basic economic concepts to home, school, and the community.
  • Objective 6.01: Examine wants and needs and identify choices people make to satisfy wants and needs with limited resources.

Grade 2

• Goal 6: The learner will analyze how people depend on the physical environment and use natural resources to meet basic needs.
  • Objective 6.02: Cite ways people modify the physical environment to meet their needs and explain the consequences.
• Goal 7: The learner will apply basic economic concepts and evaluate the use of economic resources within communities.
  • Objective 7.05: Analyze the changing uses of a community's economic resources and predict future changes.

Kindergarten

• Goal 6: The learner will apply basic economic concepts to home, school, and the community.
  • Objective 6.02: Examine the concept of scarcity and how it influences the economy.
  • Objective 6.03: Identify examples of how families and communities work together to meet their basic needs and wants.
