http://www.readwritethink.org/lessons/lesson_view.asp?id=946
A lesson plan for Grades 2–3 English Language Arts and Science
Students begin this lesson by activating prior knowledge about the moon through an initial writing activity. After the teacher has posted all ideas, students are engaged in discussions, read-alouds, and the creation of a picture dictionary that shows the development of their knowledge on the subject. This lesson provides several helpful links to resources on teaching about the moon. Teachers can use pre-writing and post-writing activities to assess student learning.
