In this Science Update, students explore the connection between the body and behavior. Scientists at Ohio State University published the results of a study that suggested that people with less symmetrical body features tended to react more aggressively to negative stimulus than their more symmetrical counterparts. Science NetLinks provides a link to the audio file, a written transcript, and questions to engage students in discussion about causation and correlation in research studies, how to read results from a study, and the possible benefits and drawbacks of such studies. This activity also contains links to several web resources that focus on research conducted in the area of body symmetry.
