In this Science Update, students explore how nature photographers have recruited Weddell seals to help them shoot film under the Antarctic ice. Lee Fuiman of the University of Texas Marine Science Institute presents information about how seals equipped with cameras and sensors were used to provide more information about their species and their ecological interactions. Science NetLinks provides a link to the audio file, a written transcript, and questions to engage students in a discussion about using marine animals to provide details about their under water lifestyles and the advantages and disadvantages in using seals instead of robots.
