Antibacterial sludge
In this Science Update, students explore the degree to which chemicals in “anti-bacterial” products actually help society. Science NetLinks provides a link to the audio file, a written transcript, and questions that engage students in a discussion about possible health risks associated with “anti-bacterial” products that contain Triclocarban (TCC). The lesson plan also provides links to the Worldwatch Institute’s site that exposes the risks of overusing anti-bacterial products and The Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics, a non-profit organization that supports the conservation of antibiotics for critical purposes.
